This privacy policy explains how Video Transcript ("we", "us") handles personal data when you use video-transcript.com. The service is operated by video-transcript. If you have a question about this privacy policy or your data, email support@video-transcript.com.
Privacy policy at a glance
- We collect what we need to run the service: your account, the files and links you submit, the transcripts we make and the minutes you use.
- We do not sell your personal data and we do not show advertising.
- Uploaded audio is deleted automatically, within 1 day on the free trial and within 7 days on paid plans.
- The free subtitle tools run in your browser and never upload your files.
- Visitors from the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland get analytics only after they accept them.
- You can ask us to export or delete your data at any time.

What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google, and a protected (hashed) password if you set one.
- Your content: the files and links you submit, the audio extracted from your files, the transcripts we produce and the edits you make.
- Usage and billing records: the jobs you run, their length, the minutes reserved and charged, and the cost of each processing step.
- Technical data: your IP address and browser details, used to keep the service secure, limit abuse and enforce the one-time free trial.
- Cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, a small cookie that tells our pages you have signed in on this browser (so pages only check your session when you might have one), a cookie that remembers your language, a cookie that records whether visitors from your region see the cookie banner (based on your IP country, kept for 30 days), a cookie that remembers your cookie choice, and the analytics cookies described below.
The free subtitle tools (SRT and VTT converter, SRT to text) run in your browser. Files you open in them are not uploaded to us.
How we use it
- To run the service: transcribe your files and links, store your transcripts and let you edit and export them.
- To keep it fair and safe: prevent abuse, apply rate limits and give the free trial to each person only once.
- To bill correctly: reserve, charge and refund minutes, and record what each job cost us.
- To support you: answer your messages and investigate problems.
- To improve the site: understand, in aggregate, which pages and features are used.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not show advertising.
Who processes your data
We use these service providers to run Video Transcript. Each receives only what it needs for its task.

When paid plans open, payments will be handled by Stripe and PayPal; we will not store your card details. When AI features open, the text of your transcript will be sent to an AI model provider to produce summaries and articles.
Your data may be processed in the United States and the European Union.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded audio: deleted automatically within 1 day on the free trial and within 7 days on paid plans.
- Temporary files and exports: deleted within 1 day.
- Provider responses kept to check billing: deleted after 30 days.
- Transcripts: kept for 30 days on the free trial. On paid plans they are kept while your subscription is active and for 90 days after it ends.
- Account and billing records: kept while your account exists, and longer only where the law requires it.
Your privacy choices and rights
You can download your transcripts at any time. You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to delete your account, by emailing support@video-transcript.com from the address on your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to some processing and to complain to a data protection authority.
If you visit from the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load only after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Elsewhere they load by default, and you can decline in the same place.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie will sign you out.
Children's privacy
Video Transcript is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this privacy policy
When we change this privacy policy we update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will tell signed-in users by email or on the site.
